I'm an artist based in Melbourne. I make art about writers, stories about artists, words about music and tracks about culture.

 

I'm interested in the myths and realities of who artists are, where they stand in the world and what their purpose is. Can art be a weapon? I'm fascinated by the aesthetic assaults and wars of words that enliven the histories of art and music, and how they intersect with real life conflicts. Are artists true outsiders or just pretentious pseudo-revolutionaries? I explore these issues in comics about young artists in 1910s Berlin, wartime Europe, 1930s Melbourne and 1970s Manchester.

 

I am a freelance illustrator and sound designer whose diverse clientele has included a children's hospital, an army garrison and a drag act. I have composed scores and arranged sounds for 14 plays, two short films, a multimedia piece and two dance performances.

 

As an independent musician I have made beats, spat rhymes, recorded and mixed for the rave-rap clan Keith! Party, played clarinet and keys in Ballardian drone-punk combo Spitfire Parade and created junglist Australiana for electronic duo Eden Monaro. I have also created animations and appeared in music videos.
